About Bowmore 27 Year Old Timeless Series
After the barley has been malted and peated, it is mashed and fermented with pure water drawn from the Laggan River. The water has spent two millennia percolating in the ancient rock formations and peat bogs of Islay, giving Bowmore Whiskey its distinctive, chewy body and subtle mouthfeel. Then, the fermented barley is twice distilled through Bowmore’s copper-pot stills before being left to mature in the distillery’s seaside, underground maturation vaults.
In 2021, the new Bowmore Timeless Series was released with two limited edition bottles, one of them being Bowmore Timeless 27 Year Old. “For the Bowmore Timeless Series, the key is the careful selection of the right casks at the right time,” said Ron Welsh, Bowmore’s master blender. Bowmore Timeless 27 Year Old was first aged for 15 years in sherry and ex-bourbon casks and then moved to oloroso butts, where it spent additional 12 years. Bottled at cask strength of 105.4 proof, this exquisite whisky brings fruity cooked plums and prune jam on the nose, while the palate is sweet with chestnut honey, bee’s wax, fresh leather and Montecristo cigar tobacco.
