Bowmore invests extra time at every stage of its whisky-making process. It uses its own Malt Barn to malt locally sourced barley with soft water from the River Laggan. Peat adds subtle smokiness during the drying process. The barley is milled into grist, combined with hot water to create wort, and fermented in Oregon Pine Washbacks. After distillation in copper wash stills and spirit stills, Bowmore matures its whisky for a minimum of nine years in carefully selected used casks.

Bowmore 15 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky is the finest example of a sherry cask finish. This expression is first matured in bourbon barrels for 12 years, and then put in Oloroso casks for three additional years, giving Bowmore 15 Year Old the rich, deep color and robust warming finish.
